On Monday 16 May, a public event was held at AUC’s Tahrir Square Campus (Oriental Hall): the Academic Conference “Understanding Arab Mediterranean Youth” was the occasion for all SAHWA partners to present their upcoming SAHWA Scientific papers revolving around the main SAHWA Work Packages:

  * Youth Opportunities: Education, Employment and Social Inclusion

  * Youth Engagement in the Arab Mediterranean Countries

  * Arab Mediterranean Youth Through Gender Perspectives

  * Migration and Mobility in Arab Mediterranean Countries

On Wednesday 18 May two roundtables were held: the first one, entitled “Education, Employment and Social Exclusion: Towards more Inclusive Policies?” was moderated by SAHWA Ethnographic Fieldwork Coordinator in Algeria Dr. Kamel Boucherf from the Centre de Recherche en Economie Appliquée pour le Développement (Algeria) while the second one dealt with Public Policies and International Cooperation in Arab Mediterranean was moderated by Dr. Özgehan Senyuva from the Middle East Technical University (Ankara). This event was open to public.

Finally, a SAHWA Steering Committee meeting took place on the 17th of May. Two upcoming SAHWA Handbooks written by French partner ANIMA Investment Network and Spanish partner Education for Employment Europe(EFE) were presented. Both deal with Youth entrepreneurship in Arab Mediterranean countries. Internal discussions about SAHWA upcoming deliverables (Survey, Cartography of Change, Final Book) followed.
