SAHWA’s new Scientific paper on Emigration amongst the Youth in Lebanon
Tuesday 11 October 2016, Lebanese American University
Entitled “Decision to emigrate amongst the youth in Lebanon. The role of socio-economic factors”, this Scientific Paper was written by Dr. Ghassan Dibeh, Dr. Ali Fakih, Dr. Walid Marrouch, researchers of the Lebanese American University (LAU) team.
Focusing on Lebanon, this paper studies the determinants of youth emigration decisions, which is considered to be one of the main causes of ‘brain drain’ in Arab Mediterranean Countries (AMCs). The aim of the paper is to identify the profile of youth’s propensity to emigrate from Lebanon. It also provides some insights for policymakers on how to deal with migration issues in this country.
This paper was published by IZA (Institute of Labor Economics - Germany) and CIRANO (Centre interuniversitaire de recherche en analyse des organisations - Canada).
